Roti Collective x Bol Coop

Roti Collective’s first DC community party! At this event, we celebrated the global food cultures of Roti at the Bol Coop located in the beautiful Creative Grounds Cafe. Attendees enjoyed a Pakistani Roti-making demo, a delicious meal of Trinidadian Roti from Trini Vybez, and a facilitated discussion about experiences and personal connections to Roti led by RC research assistant Megha Rastogi.

Members of Hamilton College attended our first Roti Party which featured a short research talk and Q+A, a catered roti dinner, and of course a roti-making demo!
Roti Collective X Asian Arts Initiative

The Roti Collective’s inaugural event was held in collaboration with the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia and moderated by Sharmin Hossain, Co-Founder of Queer Crescent.
During the event, Pakistani and Indo-Guyanese mothers and daughters made roti, while discussing the cultural and familial role that roti has played across homes and cultures. Attendees learned two styles of roti-making from Pakistani and Indo-Guyanese intergenerational kitchens, while snacking on fresh, delicious rotis with vegetarian sides.
